چکیده

We describe the first dense real-time urban seismic–accelerometric network in Italy, named OSU-CT, located historic center of Catania. The city lies region with greatest danger, vulnerability, and earthquake exposure entire Italian territory. OSU-CT was planned realized within project called EWAS “an Early WArning System for cultural heritage”, aimed at rapid assessment earthquake-induced damage testing an on-site early warning system. is mainly based on low-cost instrumentation ad hoc by using cutting-edge technologies digital MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) triaxial accelerometers excellent resolution low noise. Twenty forty scheduled stations have already been set up ground floor significant public buildings. In order to assess performance (EEW) system, we also installed wide-band velocimeters (ETL3D/5s) three edifices chosen as test sites, which will be instrumented a structural health monitoring (SHM). addition several laboratory field validation tests developed instruments, effective operational Mw 4.3 occurring 23 December 2021, 16 km west, south-west Peak accelerations (4.956 gal 39.360 gal) recorded allowed obtaining shakemap determining reliable distribution motion historical city, useful vulnerability studies edifices.

Seismic hazard zoning in Urmia urban area.

Today, the resiliency of the human centers, especially urban centers against the natural hazards such as earthquakes, is one of the main challenges in the targeted management of urban. One of the effective strategies in the control, containment and prevention of risks from earthquakes is zoning of urban areas in terms of vulnerability. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to determine...

Fleet-Oriented Real-Time Vehicular Tracking at Urban Scale

Nowadays, vehicular sensing has become increasingly important to collect urban data to understand and address mobility challenges. A straightforward to achieve this goal is to build fine-grained city-scale sensing infrastructures to instrument all vehicles with sensors and centralized communication interfaces, which lead to very expensive costs. Therefore, the previous work in urban sensing exp...

The Prevalence of Urban Areas Vulnerability to Seismic Risk (A Case Study of Region One, Tehran)

Urban planning rules and considering land use regarding faults can change the consequences of natural hazard such as earthquake. Vulnerability risk is increasing in Region 1 because of existence of the north fault, steep slopes and continuous construction of high-rise buildings. It is clear that Region 1’s Master Plan shouldn’t be prepared without considering natural hazard such as ...

A multipurpose method for seismic vulnerability assessment of urban areas

The present work outlines a methodological framework for “ordering” through progressive levels of analyses different evaluation models concerning the seismic vulnerability at urban scale, with respect to the possible final objectives: seismic scenarios, emergency or urban planning, as far as seismic mitigation or economical estimates. The research work has been developed within the URBISIT Proj...

The NEPTUNE observatory as seismic warning system

It is proposed to install an underwater observing system off the coast of Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia in order to allow long-term scientific study of the ocean. The area to be covered corresponds to the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate. Electric power will be provided via a cable similar to a submarine telecommunications cable, and communications will be via fiber optics in t...
